Referencing eary Bill Bowerman prototypes, these Nike Daybreak Type Shoes have cargo khaki coloured uppers made from a lightweight, breathable fabric with colour matched leather overlays and suede borders at the laces and toe vamp for increased durability. Pops of university gold can be seen through zig zag top stitching, the lace fastening and curved leather heel tab which bears stylised ‘N.354’ branding to help define the model. The exposed foam, sail coloured tongue is padded to ensure a comfortable fit against the top of the foot and the same ‘N.354’ branding can be seen on a woven label that wraps around its top edge with an additional reworked Swoosh tick below. On either side of the foot a stitched outline of a Swoosh tick has been added with the tips concealed by cargo khaki overlays which protect this key area from repetitive abrasion. Throughout the inside of the design a lightweight fabric lining has been added for further comfort and underfoot the rubber midsole has been split into a white midlayer with a black waffle tread pattern below to deliver reliable traction whilst also referencing a key feature of archival footwear designs.
Delivering a throwback look pulled straight from the archives, modern updates across this Daybreak Type model provide lightweight performance that is suited to everyday wear. As part of the N.354 family, inspiration has been taken from the prototype process of the design which Nike founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight became familiar with during the brand's introduction in 1964. DIY style aesthetics and overlay stitching are commonly found across the range and add an extra element to each model with a stand out experimental finish.
